A new chapter has begun for Dufort et Lavigne as it becomes a new subsidiary of Medline Canada. This acquisition will help Dufort et Lavigne better position itself in the medical supply and equipment distribution industry in Québec, while retaining its identity.

Stronger than ever, this acquisition will, among other things, help provide a wider range of products .

New upholstery colors for Midmark and Ritter products

Discover the new upholstery colors for exam and multifunction tables, stools and blood drawing chairs!

 

It’s now possible to order your Midmark and Ritter furniture with the new colors. 

The former colors are available until October 31, 2018. It’s time to complete your current furniture set.

 

In addition to the new upholstery colors, Midmark has changed the color of the steel structure and drawers of the Ritter 204 Manual Examination Table along with its accessories, such as armrests. The same applies to the Ritter 281 Blood Drawing Chairs, the Ritter 253 Exam Lights, and the Ritter 255 Procedure Lights. The new color for the metal and plastic components corresponds to the MIST PAINT COLOR in the new color palette. 

 

The new colors are also available on the Ritter 222 Power Exam Table which is currently part of a clearance sale.

Doit-on dire garrot ou tourniquet ?

 

Lorsqu'on parle d’une bande élastique permettant d’interrompre la circulation sanguine dans un membre, on utilisera le terme garrot.

Par exemple, lors d'une prise de sang ou de la pose d’un cathéter, on se servira d'un garrot.

Dans ce sens, le mot tourniquet est un anglicisme. Le terme anglais fait référence au mode de serrage par torsion à l'aide d'un bâton (le tourniquet) des garrots en tissu. 

 

En outre, si on parle de l'instrument employé en situation d'urgence servant à comprimer l'artère principale d'un membre et arrêter une hémorragie externe, on parlera aussi d’un garrot.

On dira alors : « Les secouristes ont posé un garrot au-dessus du genou de la victime. »

 

En revanche, un garrot qui fonctionne avec la méthode du tourniquet, consistant à augmenter la striction à l'aide d'un bâton de 10 à 20 cm, pourra être appelé tourniquet.

Not a week goes by without the media addressing the issue of opioid overdoses, mainly involving fentanyl. Pictures of caretakers administering naloxone have become a familiar sight.
You wonder which retractable needle syringes are provided by pharmacists as part of the Program for free access to naloxone and certain other supplies.

MAJOR PRICE INCREASE on certain Hospira products

Hospira, a division of Pfizer Canada, has put into effect a major price increase on certain products. We wish to advise you that effective July 1st, this price increase will affect 60% of all irrigation and I.V. solution products.

 

This price increase will not affect products such as medicated solutions, injectable anaesthetics, Sapphire Infusion Pumps, IV solution sets or accessories.

 

Unfortunately, this situation is beyond our control; but rest assured that we will continue to work hard to bring you the best possible prices.

 


Price increase on Supermax (Aurelia), Microflex and Medicom Gloves

Please note that effective July 1st, glove manufacturers Supermax and Microflex will proceed with a price increase on all of their gloves. With regards to gloves by Medicom, prices will increase this Fall.

 

These three manufacturers explain that the reason for this increase is the rising cost of raw materials worldwide.
